About Us

The idea for a mission at Fairview was born in the mind of Mrs. Gena Webster in the spring of 1960 while a member of the Boston Avenue Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK.  Mrs. Webster shared the idea with her pastor, and services at Fairview soon began.  The first service was Sunday, April 24, 1960, under the direction of Rev. Jewel Green, Boston Avenue pastor.

A series of firsts at Fairview began on July 17, 1960 when Rev. Bob Shoemake was called as mission's first pastor.  There were twenty persons present on his first Sunday.  In November 1960 the first revival meeting was held with ten additions by letter, ten for baptism, and one other decision.  Rev. Leroy Crawford preached the meetings.

Vacation Bible School was held for the first time at the mission in the summer of 1961 with Mrs. Ina Webster as director.  There were seventy-two enrolled with an average daily attendance of fifty-six.

In June 1961 the congregation purchased its first buildings and two acres of land.  The cost for the buildings and land was $2,500.00; two school buildings and two acres.  On July 22, 1962 a new sanctuary and its new furnishings were dedicated.  The church soon added an educational building and parsonage to the church plant.

Today we are thankful for what God has done in the past and follow Him by faith into the glorious future.
